Ecstasy, or MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), is a synthetic drug known for producing feelings of emotional closeness, energy, and enhanced sensory perception. It is both a stimulant and hallucinogen, often used recreationally at parties, festivals, and clubs.
Ecstasy increases the activity of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brain, leading to its euphoric and empathic effects but also increasing the risk of dehydration, hyperthermia, and serotonin syndrome.
